Dump Truck, Honda Crash Off Highway 101 into Ditch in Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (Sept. 23, 2026) — A large dump truck and a Honda sedan collided in Santa Rosa Wednesday morning along northbound U.S. Highway 101 near Mendocino Avenue, sending both vehicles off the roadway and into a ravine.

The crash was reported at approximately 7:10 a.m. Sept. 23 near the Mendocino Avenue off-ramp, just north of Hopper Avenue. According to California Highway Patrol incident information, the vehicles involved were described as a large dump truck and a green Honda sedan.

Initial reports indicated both vehicles went off the right side of the roadway and ended up in a ditch or ravine. Authorities did not immediately provide information regarding injuries or the circumstances that led to the collision.

The collision also blocked the right lane, creating traffic congestion in the area.

A tow company was requested to remove the vehicles. CHP later reported that a heavy-duty tow truck was needed for the dump truck, while another tow service was dispatched for the Honda, which was reported to be approximately 30 feet off the roadway.

The incident also resulted in damage to approximately 20 to 25 feet of cyclone fencing, according to CHP information.

By about 8:11 a.m., the incident had been closed by the California Highway Patrol.
