Motorcyclist Dustin Calley, 25, Killed by Driver High on Marijuana in Madera
MADERA (May 25, 2018) – A motorcyclist killed after an alleged pot-related DUI crash at Pine and Oak streets has been identified as Dustin Calley, according to The Fresno Bee and ABC 30.
The 25-year-old Chowchilla man was a victim of a tragic collision which occurred Thursday at around 8 a.m.
As per the reports, police said Calley was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle at the intersection of Pine and Oak streets when he was struck by a truck.
Suspect Cary Chaffin, 67, Arrested
The operator of the truck, 67-year-old Cary Chaffin, was making a left turn when he allegedly failed to yield to Calley and hit the victim.
Police affirmed that Calley was immediately taken to Madera Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He was an Army veteran.
Meanwhile, Chaffin was believed to have been driving high on marijuana at the time of the accident. The suspect was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
