Yucaipa Christina Church Youth Group Leader Arrested in Oregon for Alleged Lewd Acts on a Child
CALIMESA, Calif. (July 30, 2018) — A former youth group leader at the Yucaipa Christian Church has been arrested in Medford, Oregon on charges of lewd acts on a child allegedly committed here in Southern California, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Dustin Herrera, also known as Dustin Ryan Colony-Herrera, was charged with lewd acts on a child following an investigation by the Calimsea Police Department. The suspect was located with help from the Inland Regional Apprehension Team (IRAT). IRAT is a multi-agency Task Force managed by the FBI that assists law enforcement agencies and helps them identify and locate individuals suspected of committing violent crimes
Cabazon Station Investigators from the Calimesa Police Department began investigating a report of lewd acts on a child back in November 2017 after reports from at least eight children who had allegedly been sexually abused by the suspect. The lewd acts reportedly took place between 2000 and 2004 in Southern California, the report said.
Police say that Herrera befriended young people when he was working as a youth group leader at the Yucaipa church and coaxed the children back to his home in Calimesa as well as other Southern California locations. He moved to Oregon after the incidents.
Herrera is being held in Jackson County Jail in Medford, Oregon as he awaits extradition to California. His bail is set at $3 million in Riverside County.
Police investigating the crime believe there could be more victims and are asking victims to contact them.
