Dustin Ortiz, 35, Killed in Crash on Byron Highway Thursday
Byron, CA (October 23, 2020) – A 35-year-old man died in a traffic collision on Byron Highway Thursday morning, according to an article published by East Bay Times.
The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality as Dustin Ortiz, of Galt.
Per local news source, Ortiz was behind the wheel of a big rig semi truck traveling on Byron Highway. For reasons still unclear, Ortiz drifted across the double-yellow lines and ended up colliding with an F-150 pickup truck.
The force from the impact caused the big rig to overturn.
Shortly after 6:25 a.m., personnel from the California Highway Patrol responded to the crash site and found the big rig flipped in the area between Holey and Bruns Road.

Authorities later confirmed the big rig operator, later identified as Ortiz, sadly died as a result of the wreck.
Meanwhile, the driver of the F-150 appeared unharmed after the incident.
Investigators handling the case continue to work to determine the precise case of the deadly accident in Byron.
