Dylan Robinson, 21, ID’d as Suspect in Tustin Fatal DUI Wrong-Way Crash
TUSTIN, CA (October 4, 2022) – Authorities detained Dylan Robinson after a fatal DUI wrong-way crash on the 5 Freeway in Tustin.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 21-year-old Altadena man was under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred on Sunday.
The incident began when the suspect was seen driving a 2015 Toyota Prius north on the southbound 55 Freeway at the 405 Freeway.
CHP said Dylan Erric James Robinson then entered the southbound 5 Freeway the wrong-way to the southbound 55 Freeway. In the process, he hit a 2015 Toyota Prius going south.
The Orange County Register and My News LA wrote that the wreck took place on October 2 at about 2:10 a.m. Both cars ended up major front-end damage as a result of the accident.
1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Wreck
The 22-year-old passenger of the Toyota, Anaheim resident Reinne J. Lim, died at the scene. The driver of the same car, Tommy Le, sustained a broken right leg and right hand.
Paramedics rushed the 22-year-old Costa Mesa man to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Dylan Robinson survived the crash with multiple cuts on his legs, arms and head.
Medical personnel took him to the OC Global Medical Center for further aid. CHP soon arrested Dylan Robinson for felony DUI causing injury.
They also charged him with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI with a blood-alcohol content of .08% or more causing injury, both felonies.
Officers forced the transition road to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The Tustin DUI crash is still under investigation.
