Pedestrian Killed; Motorcyclist Injured in Crash on Pacific Coast Highway
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Oct. 29, 2024) — Earl Venosdel, 67, died and a motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash earlier this month at PCH and Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach.
The 67-year-old transient, and a 42-year-old motorcyclist, were both severely injured in a collision at 7 p.m. on Oct. 5th, according to a press release by the Huntington Beach Police Department.
Investigators working on the case determined “the motorcycle was traveling southbound on
Pacific Coast Highway near Beach Boulevard when it collided with a pedestrian in the south
crosswalk,” the report said.
The Buena Park man riding the motorcycle and pedestrian both landed in the roadway. Meanwhile, the unoccupied motorcycle slid south along Pacific Coast Highway and collided with an uninvolved Toyota in the opposite lanes of traffic, police said.
The pedestrian died at the hospital on Oct. 15th. He was identified as Earl Venosdel by the Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Department. The motorcyclist is still recovering from major injuries.
Police are investigating to determine fault and witnesses may call them at (714) 536-5231.
