Pedestrian Injured in East Bakersfield Hit-and-Run at Niles and Mt Vernon
EAST BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 16, 2021) – A pedestrian was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash at Niles Street and Mt Vernon Avenue in East Bakersfield.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident took place on Thursday evening. Officers reported the collision at about 5:41 p.m.
The incident happened when a vehicle struck the pedestrian for an unknown reason in East Bakersfield. The driver hit the person at the intersection of Niles Street and Mt Vernon Avenue.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near the East Bakersfield High School. They found the victim left lying on the ground as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the patient to the Kern Medical for treatment of unspecified injuries. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the area. The cause of the East Bakersfield hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced the corner of Niles and Mt Vernon to shut down following the incident.
