CHP Officer Injured in East Los Angeles Crash at 1st and Eastern
EAST LOS ANGELES, CA (March 10, 2023) – A CHP officer was hospitalized after a possible DUI crash at 1st Street and Eastern Avenue in East Los Angeles.
According to a report published by the On Scene TV, the accident took place early Thursday. Deputies responded to the wreck at around 12 a.m.
The incident happened on March 9 when the driver of a civilian car struck a California Highway Patrol (CHP) vehicle in East Los Angeles. The two crashed at the intersection of 1st Street and Eastern Avenue.
Possible Drunk Driver Hits Officer
A CHP officer ended up trapped inside the unit as a result of the collision. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and freed the victim from the wreckage.
Medical personnel then rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The report did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, deputies found several cans of an alcoholic drink in the civilian car. Officers forced the area of 1st Street and Eastern Avenue to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the East Los Angeles crash is still under investigation.
