EASTON: Fatal Crash into Parked Vehicle on West Willamette Avenue
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2026) — A fatal traffic collision involving a parked vehicle was reported early Wednesday morning in Easton on West Willamette Avenue near Eunice Avenue, according to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported on Sept. 30th at approximately 4:00 a.m. at 159 W. Willamette Avenue, where a vehicle struck a parked black Hyundai. Initial information indicated that a friend may have struck the parked vehicle, although the circumstances surrounding the crash remained unclear.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and CHP officers began investigating the circumstances of the collision. Officers also searched the surrounding area for another vehicle that may have been involved and checked nearby businesses for possible surveillance footage.
At approximately 6:08 a.m., CHP changed the incident classification from a traffic collision with no reported injuries to a fatality.
A tow company was subsequently requested to remove a vehicle from the scene as the investigation continued.
Authorities had not released the identity of the person who died or additional details about the circumstances of the crash at the time of the initial report.
The investigation remains ongoing. Further information about what led to the collision and whether another vehicle was involved is expected as investigators review evidence and surveillance footage.
