Eben Hammond Jr., 20, Killed in Oakhurst Hit-and-Run Crash on Road 427
OAKHURST, CA (July 9, 2021) – Eben Hammond Jr. was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Road 427 in Oakhurst.
Family members identified the 20-year-old man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Wednesday night.
The incident happened on July 7 when Eben Hammond Jr. was riding a skateboard on Road 427 in Oakhurst. He was traveling near Elliot Drive with two other people at the time.
Skateboarder Hit by Car
The California Highway Patrol said a vehicle approached and then struck the skateboarder from behind. ABC 30 News wrote that the accident occurred shortly before midnight.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found Eben Hammond Jr. left lying on the ground as a result of the Oakhurst crash. He died at the scene.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver involved did not stop to render aid to the skateboard rider and fled the area. They described the car as a a Jeep Cherokee or Toyota 4Runner.
The SUV has round yellow headlights and rectangular tail-lights. The Oakhurst hit-and-run crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the Valley Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
