Hit-and-Run Collision at Ladera and Cordova Street
Point Loma, CA (August 25, 2022) – Ed Maestas, a 63-year-old Ocean Beach resident, suffered injuries following a suspected hit-and-run crash that occurred in the area of Ladera and Cordova Street.
Auto vs. Bicycle Accident in Point Loma
The ABC10 News reported Maestas was riding a bike heading west on Ladera Street. Preliminary investigation revealed the man was coming down the hill on Ladera at approximately 20 to 25 miles per hour. As Maestas approached the intersection at Cordova Street, a car drove into the path of the bicyclist.
Officials said the cyclist slammed into the side of the car. The collision took place Thursday morning.
When rescue teams arrived at the site, they found Ed Maestas suffering in multiple injuries including–road rash across his body, and bruised ribs.
Meanwhile, the driver involved in the crash apparently fled the scene. The hit-and-run suspect was possibly driving a black Chrysler Sebring convertible when the collision happened.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
