Ventura Man, 24, Victim in Pedestrian Accident
DATE OF COLLISION: Tuesday, January 1st
January 2, 2018- According to the Ventura County Star, a deadly pedestrian accident which left a young man fatally injured took place yesterday morning on northbound Highway 101 at the California Street off-ramp.
California Highway Patrol officials were notified of the collision which took place at roughly 3:30 a.m.
Preliminary investigative efforts have indicated that the victim identified as Edgar Castillo, 24, of Ventura, had been crossing the road before being struck by the driver in a sedan.
Castillo tragically did not survive the impact of the collision and was sadly pronounced at the scene.
Driver of Sedan Not Arrested
Meanwhile, the driver of the sedan who remains unidentified did indeed remain at the scene and was open to questioning by police officials.
Per the article, the sedan’s driver was not arrested and was later released.
CHP officials are currently investigating the incident and will determine whether or not the driver will be held responsible.
