Bakersfield, CA (April 13, 2021) – On September 7, 2019, a fatal hit-and-run collision occurred on Kentucky Street in Bakersfield.

The ABC23 reported the Bakersfield Police Department identified the hit-and-run suspect as 24-year-old Edith Mata.

At the time of the incident, Edith Mata was driving on Kentucky Street. In the 1000 block of the road, the motorist struck a man riding a bicycle. Our sources indicated Edith Mata fled the scene following the collision.

Medical personnel arrived at the site shortly after 9:20 p.m. and found the victim lying in the roadway. A second vehicle apparently run over the pedestrian. The second motorist involved in the horrible crash called the police to the scene.

On April 13, 2021, Tuesday, police finally identified and arrested Edith Mata in relation with the deadly accident.

The woman will reportedly face a charge of hit-and-run causing death.
