Man Riding Mobility Scooter Killed in Walnut Crash
WALNUT, Calif. (July 13, 2021) — Edmund Saldivar, 68, died Sunday while riding a medical mobility scooter in a pedestrian accident with a vehicle at Amar Road and Country Hollow Drive in Walnut.
A driver reportedly struck the victim on a Walnut street as he rode the scooter.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the pedestrian early Tuesday morning.
Driver Cooperates with Investigation into Fatal Crash
The fatal collision happened about 4:35 p.m. on Sunday, July 11th at the intersection of Amar Road and Country Hollow Drive, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The driver in the vehicle told authorities he didn’t see Edmund Saldivar in the roadway due to the sun being in his eyes. He realized he hit something so he stopped and discovered the man’s body and scooter, police said.
Investigators continue to put together evidence and will determine liability for the crash.
