Suspect Arrested in Hit-and-run Crash Near LAX
WESTCHESTER, Calif. (Jan. 5, 2024) — Eduardo Alejandro Leiva, 48, was arrested as a suspect in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Sepulveda Boulevard at Century Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport.
The deadly, hit-and-run crash occurred at around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4th in Westchester, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and KTLA 5 News.
Woman Killed, Eduardo Leiva Arrested
Authorities say the suspect was traveling southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard. His dark-colored Chevrolet SUV allegedly struck the pedestrian as she was in the roadway and not in a marked crosswalk. The victim was a Hispanic woman in her 20s or early 30s. The motorist fled the scene without stopping to help the victim.
Meanwhile, detectives tracked down the suspect identified as Eduardo Leiva. Police booked him at the 77th Street Jail on felony hit-and-run charges, according to KTLA 5 News.
The Los Angeles Police Department is heading up the investigation into the hit-and-run accident on Sepulveda Boulevard.
