LONG BEACH, Calif. (June 27, 2023) – Sebastian Peredia and Eduardo Cruz, 18, are the final two young people to be identified among the five killed in a crash on the Long Beach (710) Freeway.
The exact age of Peredia is believed to be between 15 and 20 years old.
Authorities previously identified Angel Gabriel Sixtos, 18, George Dobbs, 15, and Ariahh Slemaker, 15, all of Long Beach, as the other three who died in a crash, the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner said.
The unidentified driver and five passengers were traveling in a dark-colored Hyundai Sonata sedan that reportedly crashed into an attenuator around 4:12 a.m. on Sunday, June 26th, according to the California Highway Patrol. A witness who caught the crash on their dashcam video, told investigators the vehicle sped past them just before the crash.
Deadly Crash on I-5 Freeway Near 91 Freeway
Some of the occupants were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. One unidentified male occupant survived the collision with major injuries, according to KTLA 5 News.
The collision occurred just south of the transition to the Artesia (91) Freeway, the report said. Also, the vehicle was struck by at least two other vehicles and the car burst into flames, the report said. The car became fully engulfed in flames.
The traffic accident occurred on the the northbound Long Beach Freeway.
A bystander grabbed a fire extinguisher and ran to try and put out the fire. Sadly, five of the six people in the car died at the scene.
Police issued a SigAlert and closed down all northbound lanes of the 710 Freeway.
The investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
