Man Killed in Chula Vista Bicycle Accident
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Sept. 19, 2018) — Eduardo Garduno, 44, was identified as the bicyclist who was struck and killed Tuesday night by a pickup truck, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
The bicyclist was riding on Second Avenue near Palomar Street around 10 p.m. when he was struck by the driver.
The Chula Vista police stated that the driver of a 2000 Toyota Tacoma truck stopped after the collision and remained at the scene.
Police were told the bicyclist entered the intersection southbound on Second Street against a red light. The pickup truck was heading eastbound on Palomar on a green light, according to the witness.
Paramedics responded to treat the bicyclist who suffered traumatic injuries to his head and lower body. He was transported to a hospital where he died a short time later, police said.

The investigation into this collision is underway and there are certainly many unanswered questions about what happened. One witness told authorities the pickup truck had the right-of-way at the intersection, but this must be confirmed.
