ANAHEIM, California (July 9, 2017) — Eduardo Gutierrez,55, of Anaheim was struck and killed Saturday afternoon by a passing tow truck as he attempted to change a tire on his disabled vehicle, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.

The fatal crash took place about 2:30 p.m. yesterday in the westbound lanes of the Interstate 10 Freeway and the northbound lanes of the Interstate 210 Freeway, the report said.

The Orange County man’s vehicle came to a stop  in the area between the two freeways. He got out of the vehicle and was changing the tire when the tow truck struck him. Paramedics responded and rushed the injured man to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died at 3:07 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol is heading up an investigation into the crash to determine liability.

Liability for Auto Accidents

If the actions of a negligent driver have caused your injuries or the loss of a family member, it’s important that you take immediate steps to protect your legal rights. There are many factors that police consider when determining liability for a collision including speed, distractions, mechanical failures, reckless driving, driving under the influence and more. The insurance companies will try to get you to settle your claim for as little as they can, but they will not take into account future medical costs or loss of wages. It’s advisable that you consider hiring a personal injury lawyer to fight for your rights and get you the compensation you are entitled to.
