OCEANSIDE, Calif. (May 1, 2024) — Eduardo Hernandez Zambrano, 19, is one of two men who died Thursday in an Oceanside crash on the Interstate 5 Freeway, just south of Cocklerburr Road.
The deadly collision occurred at around 8:59 on April 25th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
Two young men who were active-duty military stationed in San Diego were riding in a 2016 Hyundai sedan.
The driver of the vehicle, Jacob Dominick Johnson, 21, was allegedly traveling at high speed in the southbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway when he lost control and crashed into a parked semi-tractor trailer on the shoulder of the freeway.
Paramedics responded and extricated the teenager passenger who was trapped in the vehicle and both young men died from their injuries at the scene.
California Highway Patrol detectives are working on the case.
