Couple Killed; 4 People Hurt in 2-Vehicle Crash
SONORA, Calif. (July 16, 2018) —Edward Eaton, 91, and his wife, Rose Eaton, 86. were killed Sunday night in a collision with a vehicle that turned into the path at Highways 120 and 108 at Yosemite Junction, according to the Modesto Bee.
The collision was reported about 6:15 p.m. on July 15th. The 91-year-old Sonora man was driving a 1993 Toyota Camry occupied by him and his wife as a passenger. Meanwhile, Julieta Pisani-McCarthy, 42, of Berkeley, was driving a 2017 Ford Fiesta and heading westbound when she allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way to the Toyota and made a left-hand turn directly into the path of the Toyota at Highway 120. The Toyota collided with the left front side of the Ford.
Paramedics responded and rushed the driver of the Toyota to Memorial Medical Center, but sadly he died of his injuries. His passenger, who is also from Sonora, died at the scene. They were reportedly not wearing seat belts.
Pisani-McCarthy was airlifted to Memorial for treatment of major injuries. Her passengers, Brian McCarthy, 49, Nico McCarthy, 8, and Catalina McCarthy, 6, were treated for minor injuries at Adventist Health Sonora.
