Edward Johnson, 76, Kills Pedestrian in South Sacramento DUI Crash
SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA (June 24, 2021) – Authorities detained Edward Johnson after a DUI crash killed a pedestrian in South Sacramento.
Police determined that the 76-year-old man was under the influence when the fatal collision took place on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened on June 23 when Edward Johnson was driving a sedan in South Sacramento. He ran a red light and slammed his sedan into a minivan.
Police said the suspect then struck a male pedestrian at the intersection of Stockton Boulevard and Lawrence Drive. The Sacramento Bee and ABC 10 News wrote that accident took place shortly after 3:30 p.m.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the victim lying on the ground. He sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the man to a hospital, where he died. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
The occupants of the minivan did not sustain any injuries following the wreck. Meanwhile, Edward Johnson and his passenger ended up hospitalized with minor wounds.
Authorities soon arrested and booked Edward Johnson into the Sacramento County Main Jail on felony charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
