Edwin Harshman, 78, Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Lake Tahoe Boulevard
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (October 10, 2019) – The elderly pedestrian killed after an alleged hit-and-run accident on Lake Tahoe Boulevard Sunday has been identified.
Police said 78-year-old South Lake Tahoe resident Edwin Harshman died following the tragic collision on October 6.
According to reports by ABC 10 and FOX 40 News, Harshman was crossing Lake Tahoe Boulevard when for an unknown reason a black sedan struck him.
The impact caused the victim to be thrown onto the sidewalk. Paramedics responded to the site and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Marlon Cruz, 20, Arrested For Hit-and-Run
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver involved initially fled right after hitting Harshman. The fatal crash took place at about 8 p.m. near Fairview Avenue.
The suspect, 20-year-old Marlon Cruz, turned himself at the South Lake Tahoe police station five hours later and told officers he might have been involved in a traffic incident.
Authorities arrested and charged him with felony hit-and-run. Cruz, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was booked into the El Dorado County Jail with a bail set at $75,000.
