SAN BERNARDINO, California (June 30, 2014) –   Eileen Huerta, 45, of San Bernardino was killed late Friday night in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Highland Avenue, just east of E Street, according to a press release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner.

Huerta was reportedly running across Highland Avenue outside of a crosswalk about 11:23 p.m. when she was hit by the driver, but instead of pulling over as required under California law the driver fled.

“Police are investigating this fatal crash in an effort to apprehend the suspect,” said Attorney James Johnson. “My condolences go out to the family of this woman as they cope with her sudden and tragic loss.”
