1 Killed, 1 Injured in El Cajon Crash at Broadway and Graves Avenue
EL CAJON, CA (October 3, 2021) – A man was killed and a woman was injured after a car crash at Broadway and Graves Avenue in El Cajon.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 6 p.m.
The incident began when a white pickup truck was going east on Broadway, approaching Graves Avenue, in El Cajon. At the same time, a dark-colored sedan was traveling west.
Police said for an unknown reason the sedan turned south onto Graves. In the process, the pickup truck collided with the other car.
2 Cars Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene, just north of Interstate 8 and east of state Route 67. The two elderly couple riding the sedan ended up hurt as a result of the collision.
The driver, an 86-year-old woman, survived with minor injuries while her passenger, an 83-year-old man, sustained serious injuries.
Medical personnel rushed them to a hospital, where the man died. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
The motorist in the pickup did not sustain any injury following the wreck. Meanwhile, police forced the area of Broadway and Graves Avenue to shut down for hours after the collision.
The cause of the fatal El Cajon crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at (619-) 579-3311.
