Pedestrian Killed in El Cajon Crash on Fletcher Parkway
EL CAJON, CA (December 8, 2022) – A crash killed a pedestrian on Fletcher Parkway near Johnson Avenue in El Cajon.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the accident took place on Tuesday evening. Officers reported the collision at about 6:50 p.m.
El Cajon police said the incident happened on December 6 when a 2014 Kia Optima struck a male pedestrian in the city. The car hit him as he walked on Fletcher Parkway near North Johnson Avenue.
Man, 89, Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found the 89-year-old man lying unconscious on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the victim to a hospital, where he soon died. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police added that the driver of the Kia stopped and stayed at the site following the incident. Officers forced a stretch of Fletcher Parkway to shut down for a time after the collision.
The cause of the fatal El Cajon pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
