A 9-year-old boy riding a bicycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver at N. Sunshine Avenue and W. Main Street, according to the El Cajon Police Department.
Police are now searching for the driver who fled without stopping to help the injured child. Witnesses say it was a woman in a small blue hatchback with front-end damage and a broken headlight. She fled westbound on Main Street, leaving the injured boy in the street.
The boy was seriously injured in the 7:30 a.m. collision. Paramedics transported the child to a hospital for further treatment.
The El Cajon Police Department is heading up the investigation.
