Officer Hospitalized After Crash on West Washington Avenue Monday
El Cajon, CA (December 14, 2020) – An El Cajon police officer suffered serious injuries following an alleged hit-and-run collision on West Washington Avenue Monday.
The Kusi News reported a patrol personnel responded to the 100 block of West Washington Avenue in El Cajon. Officers received a report of a Volkswagen SUV illegally parked in the area and blocking the roadway.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m., an El Cajon police officer arrived at the location and found a man and a young woman asleep in the Volkswagen.
The officer reportedly woke the occupants and asked for identification. Per local news source, the driver provided a wrong ID. Given that, the officer tried to detain the man.
According to the news article, the driver of the Volkswagen suddenly started the vehicle. When the man drove the car, the officer was left trapped partially inside. The Volkswagen driver allegedly intentionally dragged the officer down the street.

Another moving vehicle apparently hit the officer while he was latched to the Volkswagen. First responders found the officer overthrown onto the roadway.
When medical personnel arrived at the site, they immediately rendered aid to the injured deputy. According to the news article published online, paramedics transported the victim to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The name of the patient remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
Meanwhile, authorities said the Volkswagen continued driving following the incident. No immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspect.
Investigators handling the case continue to work to determine several factors surrounding the car accident in El Cajon.
