Motorcyclist, 20, Severely Injured in Olde Highway 80 Crash Near Lake Jennings Park
EAST COUNTY (September 24, 2019) – A motorcyclist was severely injured after a traffic collision along Olde Highway 80 in El Cajon Tuesday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol said the accident took place at about 2 p.m. near Lake Jennings Park Road and several entrance and exit ramps from the 8 Freeway. It happened near Lakeside.
According to an article published by San Diego Union-Tribune, a 20-year-old El Cajon man was riding a 2013 Honda CBR 500 west when he collided with a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country.
Motorcycle Rider Hit by Van in East County Near Lakeside
The Chrysler was stopped on the shoulder of west Olde Highway 80 near Pecan Park Lane when its elderly driver tried to make a U-turn.
CHP affirmed that the 89-year-old Alpine man driving the van then went into the path of the motorcyclist. The rider attempted to avoid the crash but was thrown from his bike.
He reportedly slid into the path of the Chrysler, where he was then struck by the van. Paramedics responded and took him to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego with life-threatening injuries.
His name and condition at this time were not available. Meanwhile, authorities are still investigating the incident.
