Drugged Driver Fatally Hits Woman Near Interstate 8
El Cajon, CA (August 7, 2022) – A pedestrian died following a suspected DUI crash that occurred on North Second Street, the FOX5 News reported.
Officials said a female party was walking on the sidewalk in El Cajon Wednesday evening. At approximately 8:50 p.m., a silver Hyundai Sonata veered off the roadway and drove onto sidewalk. The car eventually struck the 20-year-old woman walking in the 600 block of North Second Street. Our sources indicated the horrible collision took place just south of Interstate 8.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident on North Second Street in El Cajon
Shortly after 8:50 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics found the victim lying on the ground. Medical personnel rendered first aid to the woman, then rushed her to Sharp Memorial Hospital. The article published online mentioned the patient later sadly succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The name of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the investigation process revealed the driver of the Hyundai was drugged at the time of the crash. For this reason, police arrested the 22-year-old male driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of a narcotic controlled substance. Officers booked the suspect into San Diego County Jail on multiple charges.
Further investigation is ongoing on the deadly accident that happened on North Second Street in El Cajon.
