5 Hospitalized After Collision on Highway 67
El Cajon, CA (June 12, 2022) – Several people suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Highway 67 and Interstate 8.
According to On Scene TV, a semi truck was heading west on I-8 and about to exit onto SR-67. Earlier reports indicated the driver of the big rig was unable to slow down as he approached stopped traffic near the exit. Given that, the truck plowed through the other vehicles. Officials said the big rig came to a stop approximately 1/4 mile from the point of collision.

When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found three other cars involved in the wreck. Responding paramedics checked the conditions of all the occupants in the disabled vehicles. After the evaluation, authorities confirmed as many as five people sustained injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported all five patients to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment of major trauma.
Several factors surrounding the incident remained unclear. At this time, detectives continue to investigate exactly how and why the accident happened on Highway 67 in El Cajon.
