High School Coach Under Investigation for Sexual Misconduct
EL CAJON, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2022) — A El Cajon Valley High School coach is on leave after accusations of sexual misconduct were filed against them from at least one student.
The Grossmont Union High School District reported Thursday that the coach is under investigation, according to San Diego 10 News. They alerted police to the allegations from a student who reported an alleged incident.
School District Notified Police
The school district informed police about the alleged crime and notified Child Welfare Services. However, they have not publicized the employee’s name or what type of coach they are at this time.
The coach remains on leave while police investigate the allegations of sexual misconduct, but the district will wait until the investigation is completed to determine if they will discipline or dismiss the person.
There are no further details about what happened at this time.
Meanwhile, the nine victims allegedly molested by a Sun Valley high school wrestling coach won a $52 million settlement against the Los Angeles Unified School District, according to an announcement made yesterday. The former coach, Terry Gillard, was also sentenced to 71 years in state prison for sex crimes involving the nine boys and girls.
Attorneys for the victims alleged the Los Angeles school district knew of of the coach’s prior sexual misconduct, but failed to stop it.
