EL CAMINO VILLAGE, Los Angeles County (March 12, 2017) – A pedestrian was killed and another was injured after being struck by a car on Manhattan Beach Boulevard Thursday evening, March 9, according to The Press Telegram.
The accident took place about 6:25 p.m. on Manhattan Beach Boulevard at Cranbrook Avenue.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a 50-year-old Long Beach man and 33-year-old Fahad Al-Husain, were walking south in a marked crosswalk across Manhattan Beach Boulevard when they were hit by a 2005 Chevrolet.
The 50-year-old pedestrian was transported to Memorial Hospital of Gardena where he later died. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Al-Husain, also of Long Beach, suffered minor injuries following the collision.
Meanwhile CHP affirmed that the 45-year-old Gardena man driving the Chevrolet, Jesus Gutierrez, claimed he did not notice the men as he was going east on Manhattan at the time. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
