Woman, 30, Killed in El Centro Head-On Crash on 8 Freeway
EL CENTRO (January 11, 2019) – Two were killed after an alleged wrong-way crash along the 8 Freeway Monday night, January 7, according to Imperial Valley Press.
The accident took place at about 9:40 p.m., just west of Dogwood Road.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a 75-year-old South Carolina woman was driving a Ford Transit van when she merged into oncoming traffic from Highway 115.

The wrong-way driver continued traveling west on the eastbound 8 Freeway and ultimately collided head-on with a Honda Pilot driven by a 30-year-old Calexico woman.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene scene. Their names have not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, KYMA wrote that the 75-year old operator of the U-Haul was driving to 90 miles per hour prior to impact. CHP added that the two motorists were wearing their seat belts when the collision occurred.
The incident remains under investigation.
