1 Killed in El Dorado County Crash at Highway 50 and Five Mile Road
EL DORADO COUNTY, CA (July 16, 2021) – At least one was killed after a crash at Highway 50 and Five Mile Road in El Dorado County.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the tragic accident occurred on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the collision at around 4:51 p.m.
According to CHP, two vehicles collided for an unknown reason near Placerville in El Dorado County. They crashed on eastbound Highway 50 at the intersection with Five Mile Road.

The incident log described the cars involved as a white Audi and a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck. The Audi then rolled over, ended up in a ditch and caught fire upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed that one person died as a result of the wreck. The name of the deceased victim remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if any other party sustained injuries following the collision. Officials forced a portion of Highway 50 at Five Mile Road to shut down for more than two hours after the crash.
The cause of the fatal accident is still under investigation.
