A forensic examination of all the involved school bus, the white pickup truck, and the gray Nissan Altima, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the accident. Authorities will thoroughly look into how fast each driver was going, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, whether or not there were any mechanical issues with the vehicles involved. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
If authorities finally prove that negligence or wrongdoing played a role in the collision, the juvenile victims and their families may be entitled to a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault party depending on the result of the investigation.
