Pedestrian Struck, Killed on 101 Freeway ID’d
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 13, 2023) – Elden Johnson, 40, was struck by a vehicle and killed on the Hollywood (101) Freeway in downtown, Los Angeles.
The deadly crash occurred around 4:53 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police and paramedics responded to the freeway near North Los Angeles Street and located the pedestrian who suffered severe injuries, according to the CHP report. He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical-Examiner as Elden Johnson.
Investigation into Death of Elden Johnson
Authorities issued a SigAlert and closed down the left three southbound lanes of the Hollywood Freeway for roughly three hours to investigate the crash.
It’s unknown at this time why the man was walking on the freeway. Meanwhile, liability for the fatal pedestrian accident will be determined.
