Eleanor Mitrovich, 98, Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Accident Near SDSU

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 29, 2026) — Eleanor Mary Mitrovich, 98, died Wednesday morning in a pedestrian accident on Cleo Street, near Gary Street in the College East Area of San Diego.

The deadly collision occurred around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22nd, near San Diego State University, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.

The San Diego Police Department sent officers to the crash scene where a driver in a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox SUV had struck the victim, who was walking in a residential area on Cleo Street.

Paramedics transported the injured woman to Scripps Mercy Hospital where she died roughly an hour later due to blunt force trauma injuries.

The SDPD is handling the investigation into the crash to determine fault.
