Elio Battisti Killed in Adelanto Pedestrian Accident on Air Expressway

ADELANTO, Calif. (Oct. 6, 2026) — Elio Battisti, 40, of Adelanto, died Sunday morning after he was struck by a box truck on Air Expressway in Adelanto, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner.
The victim was found lying in the roadway with major injuries following the crash around 12:07 a.m. on Oct. 4th, the report said.
Paramedics provided life-saving measures to the man, but sadly he died at the scene. The coroner’s report states the victim was a homeless man living in Adelanto.
Meanwhile, the truck driver stopped and cooperated with the investigation into the traffic accident.
Detectives working on the case determined the truck was eastbound on Air Expressway when the vehicle’s driver-side mirror struck the victim as he walked in a westbound direction in the roadway.
The collision remains under investigation by the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station. Witnesses may contact authorities at (760) 552-6800.
