Elizabeth Nungaray, 43, Kills 2 Children in Porterville DUI Crash
PORTERVILLE, CA (June 21, 2021) – Authorities detained Elizabeth Nungaray after a fatal DUI crash at Main Street and Orange Avenue in Porterville.
Police determined that the 43-year-old woman was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck took place on Saturday afternoon.
The incident began when Elizabeth Nungaray was driving south on Main Street, approaching Orange Avenue, in Porterville. Police said she then ran a red light at the intersection.
The driver broadsided a Dodge Journey going east on Orange at the time. Her car ultimately struck a third vehicle and a traffic light pole in the area.
The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley wrote that the accident occurred on June 19 at about 3:18 p.m.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced an 11-year-old girl in the Dodge dead at the scene. Her 8-year-old sister died at a hospital.
Two more children riding the SUV, a 4-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. An air ambulance took them to a hospital in critical condition.
Meanwhile, medical personnel treated Elizabeth Nungaray who complained of pain following the crash. Police soon arrested and booked her into the Tulare County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail.
They charged her with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and causing an injury traffic collision while impaired. The Porterville DUI collision is still under investigation.
