Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Simi Valley
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (Sept. 14, 2021) – Elizabeth S. Strull, 68, of Simi Valley, died in a pedestrian accident Tuesday morning at Cochran and Stow streets.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Bureau identified the woman as one of two struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk.
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, a driver in a Honda CR-V SUV struck them after allegedly failing to stop at a traffic light, according to the Ventura County Star.
Additionally, the collision happened about 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 14th. The SUV was eastbound on Cochran Street. The driver failed to stop at a red traffic light and struck the two women. The women were walking in the crosswalk together and had the right of way, police said.
The deadly crash happened outside of Simi Valley High School, but no students were involved.
Elizabeth Strull died at the scene. Meanwhile, the other woman, age 37, was injured and transported to a hospital where she remains in serious condition, the newspaper reported.
Meanwhile, the Simi Valley Police Department is heading up the investigation.
