Elmer Pinacho, 18, Killed in Somis Car Accident on Highway 118
SOMIS (December 24, 2018) – The young man killed after an alleged DUI crash along Highway 118 early Sunday has been identified as Elmer Pinacho, according to Ventura County Star.
Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office said the 18-year-old Oxnard resident was a victim of a wrong-way collision on December 23 at around 12:20 a.m.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol reported that Pinacho was riding as a passenger in a Honda Accord when it was hit head-on by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup on Highway 118.
The driver of the truck, 41-year-old Ramon Trujillo-Ravelo, was traveling east in the westbound lane when it struck the sedan. The highway is also known as East Los Angeles Avenue.

The Silverado rolled onto its roof and ended up in the westbound lane while the Accord went off the roadway and slammed into a power pole. The wreck occurred between Aggen and Bradley roads.
CHP affirmed that Pinacho was pronounced dead at the scene. The 18-year-old Oxnard man driving the Honda was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, Trujillo-Ravelo was arrested on suspicion of felony gross vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing injury and driving with a 0.08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury, according to jail records.
The Somis man was booked into Ventura County jail with a bail set at $50,000. The investigation is ongoing.
