Suspect in Deadly Christmas Crash Arrested

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 17, 2023) — Elyzza Guajaca, 24, died on Christmas night when a driver participating in a street takeover struck her at the coroner of Crenshaw Boulevard and Florence Avenue in the Hyde Park area.
The deadly crash occurred about 9 p.m. on Dec. 25th at the South Los Angeles intersection, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and ABC News.
Authorities have finally arrested one of three suspects in connection with the the deadly crash. Dante Chapel Young, 28, of Orange County, left the state and went to Arizona. Police eventually arrested him near Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dante Young faces murder and other charges for his role in the crash.
One of the suspects was driving a black Chevrolet Camaro. He was reportedly doing donuts at the intersection. The motorist reportedly lost control and struck Elyzza Guajaca as she stood with a group of other people at the northeast coroner of the intersection. Paramedics transported her to a hospital where the 24-year-old nursing student later died. The motorist abandoned the car and left the scene of the crash in someone else’s vehicle.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the arrest, but there are no further details at this time. Police will hold a news conference today with more details.
Meanwhile, there were six or seven other victims hurt in the crash. Police obtained videos in the days following the incident and now would like to find out who they are.
