Emanuel Esparza, 21, Killed in Meadowbrook Crash at Highway 74 and Hammack Avenue
MEADOWBROOK, CA (April 11, 2022) – Emanuel Esparza was killed after a wrong-way crash at Highway 74 and Hammack Avenue in Meadowbrook.
The coroner’s office identified the 21-year-old Perris man as the victim in the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Emanuel Esparza was driving a 2017 Kia Forte in the No. 1 lane of eastbound Highway 74 in Meadowbrook. At the same time, a 2003 Ford Mustang was going west.
For an unknown reason, the Mustang veered into eastbound lanes. Its driver, 26–year-old Perris resident Carlos Zuniga, slammed head-on into the Kia.

The two cars crashed at the intersection with Hammack Avenue. The Riverside County News Source and My News LA wrote that the accident occurred on April 10 shortly before 2:30 a.m.
Emanuel Esparza and Carlos Zuniga died at the scene of the crash. Two passengers of the Forte, 15-year-old Perris boys, sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed them to the Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment. Meanwhile, CHP forced Highway 74 to shut down for three hours following the wreck.
The cause of the Meadowbrook crash is still under investigation.
