
Emerald West, 21, Killed in Humboldt County Crash on State Route 299
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (April 22, 2023) – Emerald West was killed after a car crash on State Route 299 in Humboldt County.
The sheriff’s office identified the 21-year-old McKinleyville woman as one of the victims in the fatal wreck which took place on Thursday.
The incident happened when Emerald West was driving a gray Hyundai Tucson east on State Route 299, west of Lord Ellis Summit, in Humboldt County.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
At the same time, a white Ford F–550 service truck and a 2020 Kenworth semi-truck were going west. For an unknown reason, the Hyundai and the Ford collided head-on.
The California Highway Patrol said the Tucson then slammed into the Kenworth. The Times Standard and KRCRTV News wrote that the collision occurred on April 20 at about 12:39 p.m.
Emerald West and her passenger, a 30-year-old McKinleyville woman, died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Ford sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.
The operator of the Kenworth did not sustain any wound following the wreck. Meanwhile, the cause of the Humboldt County crash is still under investigation.
