2 Injured in Crash on Interstate 80 Freeway in Placer County
PLACER COUNTY, Calif. (August 8, 2024) — Two people were injured in a crash on Interstate 80 Freeway, just east of Nyack Road in unincorporated Emigrant Gap, Placer County.
The two-vehicle collision occurred Thursday morning at around 4:30 a.m. on August 8th, just southwest of Lake Spaulding, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A driver’s iPhone alerted CHP dispatchers to the possible head-on or wrong-way driver crash between a black Ford pickup truck and another vehicle.
Most of the traffic lanes were blocked by the vehicles and or radiator and transmission fluid was spilled across the roadway.
Paramedics responded and located one person with a broken arm and another with undisclosed injuries. Both people were transported to a hospital and one is suspected of driving under the influence.
Tow trucks removed both of the vehicles and investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on the 80 Freeway in Placer County.
