Emily Rew Killed in Lake Elsinore Crash on Interstate 15 Freeway

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. — Emily Rew, 37, of San Diego, was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on northbound Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore that also left several others injured and shut down lanes for hours.
The collision was reported on March 24th just before 4 p.m. north of Main Street, prompting a SigAlert as emergency crews responded to the scene, treated victims and worked to clear the wreckage.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the chain-reaction crash began when a 32-year-old Perris man driving a gray Toyota Tacoma rear-ended Rew’s green Kia Niro. The impact pushed the Kia from the No. 3 lane into the No. 2 lane, where it was struck by a white Dodge Ram towing a trailer, driven by a 50-year-old Los Angeles man.
Investigators said the Dodge Ram then collided with a red Toyota Highlander driven by a 69-year-old Lake Elsinore man before striking a black Honda Accord operated by a 38-year-old Murrieta woman.
Rew suffered fatal injuries in the crash, officials said. Several other drivers involved were treated for minor injuries. The Perris and Lake Elsinore drivers were transported to hospitals, while the Murrieta woman and Los Angeles man were treated at the scene.
All northbound lanes of the freeway remained closed for several hours as authorities investigated and cleared the crash, reopening to traffic around 8 p.m.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and no arrests have been reported.
