OCC Employee ID’d as Victim of Crash
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (May 23, 2023) — Emylie Tran, 34, an Orange Coast College employee, died Saturday in a head-on crash on Bushard Street in Fountain Valley.
Also, an unidentified OCC student assistant traveling in the same vehicle was critically injured in the two-vehicle crash on May 20th, according to a news article by Orange Coast College.
The fatal crash occurred at Bushard Street and Swift Avenue in Fountain Valley, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department.
Emylie Tran Killed in Crash on Bushard Street
A 34-year-old Hawaiian Gardens man driving a silver 2005 Infiniti FX35 was heading north on Bushard Street, according to the Orange County Register. The motorist allegedly crossed over into southbound lanes and crashed head-on with a black 2015 Nissan Sentra driven by the OCC student assistant. Emylie Tran was a passenger in the Nissan.
Tran suffered major injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Nissan was critically injured and transported to a hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver from the Infiniti was take to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. .
The Fountain Valley Police Department is heading up the investigation and will determine if speed, drugs and or alcohol were factors.
Since 2015, Tran had worked as a full time accounting technician for the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services at OCC.
