5 Hospitalized After Collision at Encinitas Boulevard and Via Cantebria
Encinitas, CA (April 24, 2022) – Several people suffered injuries following a car accident that occurred in the area of Encinitas Boulevard and Via Cantebria.
The San Diego Union-Tribune News reported officers spotted a Nissan Sentra driving erratically and at high speeds on northbound I-5. According to the article published online, deputies attempted to pull over the reckless driver but they failed to yield. For this reason, officers launched a pursuit.
Our sources indicated the suspect ran a red light at the intersection of Encinitas Boulevard and Via Cantebria. The chased car collided with two other vehicles–a gray Volkswagen Jetta and a gray Chevrolet Traverse.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m., rescue teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics rendered aid to all parties involved in the wreck. The California Highway Patrol group mentioned as many as nine people sustained injuries as a result of the incident. Authorities briefly identified some of the victims as a 25-year-old Carlsbad woman driving the Volkswagen; a 32-year-old Encinitas woman driving the Chevrolet; a 1-year-old; a 3-year-old; and the 19-year-old man driving the Nissan Sentra.
Among the victims, paramedics transported five patients to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Further investigation is ongoing on the car accident at Encinitas Boulevard and Via Cantebria.
