1 Seriously Injured in Encinitas Crash on Northbound Interstate 5
ENCINITAS, CA (April 6, 2021) – At least one was seriously injured after a car crash along the Interstate 5 Freeway in Encinitas.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at around 3:18 p.m.
A white van and a red pickup truck collided for an unknown reason. The two crashed on the northbound side of the Interstate 5 in Encinitas.
Rollover Collision Near Birmingham Drive
CHP said the pickup truck rolled onto its side upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene, just south of Birmingham Drive.
They rescued one person who suffered major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then rushed the wounded party to the Palomar Medical Center Poway for treatment.
Officials did not disclose the name of the patient and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, officers forced the northbound lanes of the I-5 to shut down following the wreck.
Authorities are still determining the cause of the Encinitas crash.
