Pedestrian Killed in Crash on Encinitas Boulevard Near El Camino Real
ENCINITAS, CA (September 12, 2022) – A crash killed a pedestrian on Encinitas Boulevard near El Camino Real in Encinitas.
The accident happened when a pickup truck hit a male pedestrian for an unknown reason in the 1300 block of Encinitas Boulevard. The car struck him just west of El Camino Real in the city.
Man, 79, Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found the 79-year-old man down on the ground. He sustained serious injuries as a result of the incident.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, deputies said the driver of the pickup truck ended up unharmed following the collision. Officers forced a stretch of Encinitas Boulevard to shut down for a time after the pedestrian accident.
The cause of the fatal crash is still under investigation.
